DIY Spring Decor

With the promise of spring looming large on the horizon, many people begin feeling the urge for change. After being cooped up in your house all winter, you've likely grown bored with your current decor and want to make things a bit more festive. Besides a good bout of spring cleaning, a good way to combat the winter blahs is to do some spring decorating. Here are a few ideas to help you get started:

Give Walls a Facelift

Nothing says "renewal" quite like a new coat of paint. With so many beautiful colors available, there's something for everyone's tastes and budgets. How about a vibrant lemon yellow or leafy green? You also can't go wrong with a soothing baby blue or light lavender. Whatever you choose, repainting your walls can help give rooms a cheerier, more uplifting feeling.

Bring Spring Inside

Houseplants are a lovely addition to your home no matter the season, but many of them lack the charm of springtime flowers. What many people don't realize is that popular spring plants can be kept successfully in any brightly-lit windowsill. Daffodils, hyacinths, tulips and crocuses feature breathtaking flowers in a wide variety of colors. They also provide a wonderful fragrance, better than anything an air freshener could hope to replicate. After they've finished blooming for the year, fear not. Simply transplant them to your flower bed and enjoy them again next spring.

Use Nature's Bounty

One nice aspect about spring is that its pleasant weather makes you want to spend more time outdoors. When you go walking, bicycling or hiking, make an effort to notice the things around you. Among other things, nature provides a bounty of potential decor that can give your home a fresh, natural appeal. A few suggestions include dry mosses and lichens, shapely pieces of driftwood, interesting stones, seashells and dried shelf mushrooms. If you're handy with crafts, you could even create a fun and unique wall hanging or centerpiece from an assortment of these items.

Liven Listless Rooms

Do drab rooms remind you a little too much of winter's dreary countenance? If you feel like one or more rooms in your home are lacking color and spirit, then consider bringing them up to speed with the season. Is it a dull bathroom? Liven it up with some colorful accessories, towels or rugs. Perhaps your bedroom reminds you more of a dungeon than a comforting place to sleep. A new set of spring-themed bedding or curtains may be just the thing to breathe life into it.

Get Organized

Although it's not exactly decorating, getting your home more organized goes a long way toward getting it ready for spring. Go through your closets and put your winter apparel into storage to create space for new spring fashions. Sell, donate or throw away anything you no longer need or want in order to reduce clutter and make rooms feel more spacious. After that's done, organize and dust off your shelves in preparation for new decor. It's amazing how much easier spring decorating can be when you take the time to get organized first.

Spring is a time for new beginnings, so why not extend this theme to include your home's decor? After all, a room that never seems to change can become boring, even depressing. Start off on the right track this season by trying some of these do-it-yourself spring decorating tips.

Luxurious Bedding

The Twovet is one of the latest solutions for people who want luxurious bedding that is also comfortable for each partner's body temperature. The Twovet is an exceptional design that's heavier on one side and light-weight on the other side. Romance can be restored between couples with the Twovet because they will be more comfortable together. Luxury bedding is just one trend that is expected in bedroom styles this spring.

Shades of Grey

Grays are thought to be calming and relaxing. For people who want to reconnect to nature, they should try gray as a balance between both cool and warm colors. Grays combined with blues and whites seem to be a trend this spring. If you want a calm and serene environment, using shades of gray is one suggestion.

Serene, Retreat-like Experiences

Serene and retreat-like experiences are recommended for the spring. The color palettes for the spring are soothing and consist of light purples, soft greens and creams. Everything in a spa should consist of clean lines to create that look that most people desire.

Eclectic Rooms

Eclectic rooms can be sophisticated and quite inviting. Some of the most popular eclectic rooms combine the brown color palette with the grays. Metallic finishes make the room look more well-blended and continual. The accessories are well-placed to create the total look that people desire. Eclectic rooms are a growing trend in 2014.

Contemporary Rooms

Contemporary rooms use a neutral palette. Throw rugs made of luxurious materials are added to these rooms for additional comfort and style. Contemporary rooms often feature a monochromatic color scheme to help create the ambiance that many people desire. Hand-crafted art on the walls can provide a unique flair and does not require exceptional skill to create.

If you're in need of a bedroom makeover, you're in luck this season with these exceptional designs. It's amazing how a few small changes can give a room a total new feel and make you feel more relaxed and amorous. These suggestions are only a few ways to change your bedroom style.
