Sleeping next to the person you love is one of the best experiences that life has to offer. Many people are aware of this and know the benefits of spending a night with the one they love. However, these people are unaware there are even more benefits that one gets when sleeping with the one they love.
1. STRESS RELEIF
One benefit of sleeping together is that it relieves stress for both of you. When one partner is stressed out, the other person will be there to help him or her fall asleep. This means that even if your partner has a bad day at work or he or she has just had a fight with his/her boss, being next to each other can help reduce the stress levels for both partners.
Research conducted by scientists at the University of Hertfordshire has shown that when we sleep next to our partner we experience higher levels of an anti-stress hormone called oxytocin. The research involved 25 couples who slept at home and in a laboratory, and their quality of sleep was noted over the course of three nights.
The findings showed that there was a marked improvement in the quality of sleep when partners were present. This study also showed that sleep quality improved for men more than it did for women. The research showed that men slept longer, deeper, and experienced less disturbance in their sleep when their partner was present.
Sleeping in the same bed as someone you love was found to reduce insomnia. People who go to bed with their partner next to them are less likely to wake up during the night, according to a study published in the Journal of Family Psychology.
The study, which was conducted by researchers at Penn State and Michigan State universities, suggests that an intimate relationship can improve your quality of sleep. The research included 160 married couples who were asked to keep a sleep diary for two weeks. Those who slept alone were more likely to report having trouble falling asleep, as well as waking up more frequently during the night.
Although sleeping next to each other is already good for your health, according to a new study published in the journal Scientific Reports, sleeping in close proximity to another person was linked to a decrease in anxiety and depression.
Researchers recruited 40 couples and asked them to sleep either apart or together for two nights at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King's College London and the University of Zurich. After the second night, participants filled out questionnaires about their sleep quality and mood. The researchers discovered that those who slept next to their partners experienced a boost in positive feelings and a decrease in negative feelings compared with those who slept alone.
One of the benefits of cuddling up with your partner at night is the security you feel being next to someone you love. This is especially true if you are a light sleeper or have trouble sleeping. Having another person in the bed with you can provide comfort and reassurance that will help you sleep soundly throughout the night.
In addition to feeling more secure, it's also been found that most people feel happier when they go to bed next to someone they love. This sense of well-being can provide numerous health benefits including reduced stress, harmonious relationships and improved heart health. As an added bonus, these feelings are contagious so both partners benefit from these positive effects.
Sleeping next to the person you love not only helps you spend some quality time together, but also helps strengthen your relationship. Furthermore, sleeping next to the one you love is beneficial for your overall health. Most importantly, sleeping in the arms of someone you love can help treat depression and remove stress from your mind and life. Therefore, if you find yourself longing to sleep with your significant other then do so. You will never regret it.
